Congratulations On Your Engagement ~ Love Hearts

Hello bloggers I hope you had a good day yesterday and are ready for festivities tonight.  Today I have an engagement card to share.

This card began as a white 6x6 card blank.  First I used some white card stock and embossed it using That Special Touch 'hearts' mask and my Grand Calibur.  Once embossed I inked through the mask with festive berries distress ink and some cut n dry foam.  The embossed card stock was cut to the size of the card blank and set to one side.  Next onto red card stock I stamped the dress and sentiments using black soot distress ink and Stampin Up 'love & laughter' stamp set.  Once stamped the topper was cut to size and matted onto some silver holographic mirror board before being added to the embossed card stock.  Next I used some lovely red ribbon and wrapped it around the embossed card stock.  The embossed panel was then adhered to the front of the card blank.  Next I tied some more ribbon around the cross over point of the ribbons and tied a bow.  I then embellished the ribbon with two silver coloured heart brads one above and one below the ribbon bow.

Sorry Flowers & Girl ~ Shaped Scallop Circle Card

Hello bloggers I hope the week began well for you.  Today I have a sorry card to share with you.

This card began as a 12x12 grey card stock that I folded and then die cut using Spellbinders 'grand scallop circles' die set to make my card blank.  Next I used the same die and die cut a mat for the topper from some pale green card stock.  The mat was adhered to the card blank but off set from the card blank scallop edge.  Next I printed out my digistamp which is from Chameleon Color Tones.  I then coloured it using water colour pencils.  Once coloured I die cut it using the same die set as above but a smaller die. The topper was then adhered to the card blank again off setting the scallop pattern.  The sentiment was created using the Brother Scan N Cut text feature.  Once created I cut it out of purple vinyl and then added it to the topper to complete the card.

Birthday Card ~ Katie 12 ~ Butterflies & Flowers ~ Brother Scan N Cut

Hello bloggers I hope you had a good weekend.  Today I have a personalised card for you made using die cuts and Brother Scan N Cut.

This card began as a 12x12 sheet of purple card stock that I cut and scored to make a DL card blank.  Next using Brother Scan N Cut Canvas I added the text Katie and the numbers 12.  I then welded these together and downloaded them to my USB stick.  The image was transferred to my Brother Scan N cut from the USB stick.  I then used the machine to cut the text and numbers out of lilac card stock. The text was then sprayed on the back with a permanent adhesive and added down the centre of the card.

Using some purple mirror card off cuts and Marianne Creatables Dies 'butterflies' die set I die cut several butterflies.  I also cut one out of an off cut of lilac card stock.  Next I used some purple card stock and purple mirror board to die cut some flowers.  The die used for this was Spellbinders Die D-lites 'blooms one' die set.  Using lilac card stock I die cut some larger butterflies using Spellbinders les papillions die set.  Finally the flowers were assembled and randomly adhered to the card blank.  The butterflies were also adhered into place on the bodies so that the wings can still be arranged.

Reindeer Food Cones ~ Spellbinders Fanciful Holiday

Hello bloggers well another day closer and I'm still not done due to ill health, hope you are having a better chance of achieving everything done in time.  Today I have a different variation on the Reindeer food I shared a short time ago.

I began with a bag of rolled oats and a large bowl and a few pots of silver glitter.  These were all thrown into the bowl and stirred up.  Next I used a scoop to fill the cones to about two thirds. I then twisted around the cone at the top of food.  A coloured pipe cleaner was wrapped around this area to secure and to form the antlers of the reindeer.  Next I added some googly eyes to form the face and a red pompom for the nose at the tip of the cone.

I then typed up a little verse I found on the internet and printed it out onto white card stock.  This was then die cut using Spellbinders 'back to basic tags' die set.  The tag was then tied to the neck of the cone using some gold elastic thread.  The reindeer food labels text was printed onto white card stock.  I then placed the reindeer die from Spellbinders 'fanciful holiday' die set over the text and die cut the reindeer labels. Whilst still in the die I inked through with walnut stain distress ink.  The label was then adhered to the front of the cone.

Happy Christmas Bagpuss

Hello bloggers I have gone all digital today with a card designed in Craft Artist Professional featuring Bagpuss.

This card is 16cm x11cm and was made using an A4 white card stock.  I used Craft Artist Professional and Bagpuss Christmas Digikit to create my design.

First I  added my background which is a red polka dot paper to cover the whole card.  I then added a parcel patterned material to the card, this was made slightly smaller than the card to leave a polka dot border.  Next I chose my embellishments, first I chose Bagpuss and shrunk it down to size and added it to the card.  I then made it into a sticker using the sticker tool.  The Christmas tree and mice were added next and this too was made into a sticker.  The Christmas tree was copied and pasted then shrunk to a very small size and rotated and added to the back of the card as an embellishment.

Finally I used the text box to choose my font style and size and to type in my message.  The complete card was printed onto the white card stock.  I then used my Brother Scan N Cut to cut out the card before scoring and folding it.

Brother Scan N Cut Review ~ Gingerbread Man & Christmas Tree Nail Art

Hello bloggers today I thought I would review the Brother Scan N Cut that I purchased a few months ago and also share a couple of things I have been doing.

 Gingerbread Nail Art

Christmas Tree Nail Art

The Brother Scan N Cut is an electronic cutting machine that does not need a computer attached to it to use it.   In fact you can not physically attach one to it you have to use a USB stick to transfer any data including machine updates.  It is a fabulous machine even though it is a little on the expensive side I do feel that once you get used to it and have had time to play and experiment that you will find it is well worth its weight in gold and you will soon get your money back.  The few teething problems I have been having is cancelling everything with my left hand as I lean to the machine to use the stylus as I am left handed a right handed person would not have this problem I suspect.  It is important to make sure you remember to keep on changing your settings when cutting different materials.  Something I keep forgetting to do.  Also bear in mind that different brands of a similar product will perform differently.  Yesterday I was cutting mirror board and then changed to a different colour and on the same settings it cut through my mat slightly where as the previous cut was fine.

I do find it a bit noisy when cutting very intricate things like 8mm snowflakes.  The cut is great and the style of the machine is lovely and modern.  It is far easier to use than other electronic machines I have had in the past.  It is really straight forward with 600 pre-installed images including fonts to cut out in sizes from 1mm to 12inch and every size in between depending on the intricacy of the image.

You can also use a computer to access Brother Scan N cut Canvas which allows you to down load svg cutting files and convert them to fcm which is the files that the machine uses.  You can create in canvas and then everything is transported to the machine by a USB stick.  There is a list of compatible ones that Brother have checked that comes in the box.

The pictures above are what I have been using vinyl to cut out nail art and it has gone down really well and has been very popular.  There are lots of support groups on the internet to support anyone with problems as well as You Tube videos on how to use different aspects of the machine and canvas.  There are lots of people who supply free svg cutting files for you to use on your machine.  Others are available at very reasonable prices too.

Overall I love love love this machine best craft purchase I have ever made.  I can't wait to have more time to really get into it and develop my skills and maybe start designing my own images.

Winter Wishes ~ The Snowman And The Snowdog

Hello bloggers I hope you have enjoyed a good week.  Today I have a Christmas card featuring the Snowman and the Snowdog.

This card began as an 9x5 off cut of green card stock that I cut and scored to make a 4.5 square card blank.  Next using Creative Crafting World Perfect Christmas Companions CD-ROM, I printed off  a Christmas tree backing paper and a page of ribbon borders both in green.  Next I cut the ribbon borders sheet to size and adhered it to the front of the card.  I then used the Christmas tree paper and Spellbinders 'labels 19' die set to cut a mat for the topper characters.  Once die cut it was adhered to the bottom left of the card.  The Snowman and Snowdog were cut from white card stock using Crafter's Companion magazine 5 free die set.  Whilst still in the die I inked through with black soot and pine needles distress inks.  Once out of the dies I added them to the mat.  Finally I used Crafter's Companion 'The Snowman' stamp set and pine needles distress ink to stamp the sentiment onto white card stock.  It was then punched out with a circle punch and the edges of the die cut were inked with the same ink pad.  The sentiment was then adhered to the card.

Happy Christmas ~ Wine Buffs

Hello bloggers I hope you had a good day yesterday, mine was rather busy.  Today I have another card featuring the Wine Buffs.

This card began as an A4 sheet of cream card stock that I scored to make an A5 card blank.  Next I used  Creative Crafting World 'perfect Christmas companions' CD-ROM,  to print out a backing using my laser mono printer.  Once printed onto white card stock I then foiled the card stock with red foil.  Next I used Katy Sue Designs Wine Buffs 'Christmas spirit' CD-ROM to print out the topper.  The topper was then die cut using Spellbinders grand labels large die set.  Once die set it was adhered to the card. I then added a bit of glitter to Rudolph's nose and the tree baubles.

The names were created using Brother Scan N Cut text which I cut out.  I was going to use the cut out text but decided the waste was better for the card so used that instead.  The text was adhered to the card blank.  Next using some music paper and Spellbinders 'poinsettia die set' I die cut several small poinsettias inking through the die with festive berries distress ink as I went.  Once all cut I layered them up and adhered into place.  Finally I added a black pearl pva faux pearl to the centre of the poinsettias.

Magic Reindeer Food Test Tube Glitter Tag

Hello bloggers today I have something a little different as it's not a card but a little gift for the children.

This project began with an empty test tube with a lid. (These can be purchased online).   First of all I filled the tube with a mixture of rolled oats and silver glitter to make the reindeer food and the added the lid.  To cover the lid I used a scallop circle and fluted it around the top keeping it nice and neat before adding a slim band of card stock to hold it into place.  The tag was made by punching out two tags from patterned card stock and adding some silver elastic to the centre and adhering them together.    For the front of the tag I printed off a free topper from the internet and matted it onto a scallop circle before adhering it to the front of the tag.  The back of the tag has a little verse, which was also printed from the internet. This was cut out and adhered to a scallop circle before being adhered to the back of the tag.  Finally the tag was attached to the test tube with the silver elastic.

Spellbinders Filigree Cross ~ Christmas Wishes ~ Aperture

Hello bloggers, well another weekend is upon us I hope you had a good week and the weekend will be good to follow.  Today's card is a more traditional Christmas card featuring a filigree cross.

This card began as an 8x8 sheet of cream card stock that I cut and scored to make a 4x4 card blank.  Next I die cut the aperture in the front of the card using Spellbinders Die D-lites 'filigree cross' die set.  Using some gold patterned mirror board I die cut the filigree cross using the same die set as above and the border die that takes it out of the card stock.  The paper for the front of the card was cut to 4x4 in size and then was placed inside the card and the cross border die I put back into place.  This was taped into place and the card opened out and was then run through the die cutting machine.  I know it would have been easier to cover the card before cutting it but I wasn't going to cover the front of the card at that point it was an after thought.  The patterned paper was adhered to the front of the card.

The sentiment was stamped using vintage photo distress ink and Creative Expressions 'robins' stamp set.  This was then cut down to size and the edges inked with the same ink pad as it was stamped.  It was then adhered to the top of the card.  I then cut away the part of the sentiment that over lapped the cross aperture and inked the newly cut edge.  Finally the gold mirror board filigree cross die cut was adhered into place inside the card but inline with the cross aperture on the front
