There's no business like snow business - snowman

Hello bloggers today we have another Christmas related card to cool you down in the hot sun.

This card began life as a white hammered 6x6 card blank.  Using some white cardstock I inked through the 'snowflake' mask from That special Touch of Masks using tumbled glass distress ink.  Next I stamped the snowmen using black soot distress ink and Stamping with Dimensions 'snowmen' stamp set.  I then coloured in the crowns and face details using ProMarkers.  The sentiment was stamped using the same ink pad and stamp set.  A metal snowflake brad was added to the bottom snowflake of the mask.  Across the top of the card I wrapped some ribbon around and adhered it into place.  I then folded some more ribbon into a flat bow and wrapped a smaller piece around the centre.  This was all glued in place and then added to the ribbon on the topper.  The whole sheet was then cut down to size and adhered to the card blank.

So It's Your Birthday

Hello bloggers today's card is a pretty birthday card.

This card began as a white hammered DL card blank.  First I cut some gold pearlescent cardstock to size and then adhered it to the card blank.  Next from a patterned card blank that I didn't really like I use Spellbinders 'potpourri' die to cut a decorative mat for my sentiment topper.  This was adhered to the card blank and the sentiment topper from my stash was adhered to the center.   From the same card blank I die cut the heart shapes and added them to the card with foam tape.  Finally some black ribbon was tied into a double bow and attached to the middle of the card.

You're the cat's whiskers

Hello bloggers today's card was created using some 'pawprint' stamps I got free with this months Papercraft Inspirations magazine.

This card began as a piece of A4 gold pearlescent cardstock, that I cut down and scored in half to make a 4x4 card blank.  Onto white cardstock I randomly stamped 'meow' using vintage photo distress ink and paw print stamp set.  Next from some copper textured holographic mirror board I die cut my topper mat using Spellbinder 'labels sixteen' die set.  I then stamped my topper using the same stamp set using vintage photo distress ink.  I then die cut it using Spellbinders 'labels sixteen' die, whilst still in the die I inked the edges with vintage photo distress ink.  To the cat I added some whiskers using some waxed cotton and cosmic shimmer dries clear glue.  The topper and mat were layered up and adhered to the card blank.  Finally the sentiment was computer generated and printed out.  It was then die cut using Spellbinder 'back to basics tags' die.  I also die cut a mat for the sentiment using the same die and the copper textures mirror board.  These were then layered up and adhered to the card blank.

Snowman decoupage

Hello bloggers today's card is a lovely snowman card to try to cool us all down.  It been very hot here lately in the UK and we are definitely not used to it.

This card began as a white hammered 6x6 card blank.  First I added a mat of silver mirror board to cover the whole front, then I added a silver holographic textured mat slightly smaller than the first one.   Next I printed off my decoupage from Crafter's Companion 'the snowman papercrafting collection' CD and then cut out all of the pieces.  The pieces were then layered up using foam tape to give definition  and height to the finished topper.   I love this decoupage as it is very easy to cut out as it is all straight lines and as it is rotated every other layer it adds interest to the topper layers.  The completed topper was then adhered to the card blank.  Finally I stamped my sentiment using black soot distress ink and Justrite 'large merry Christmas sentiments' stamp set.  This was then cut down to size and the edges coloured with a ProMarker.  It was then adhered to the card blank.

This card began as a white hammered DL card blank.  To the front I adhered some X-men patterned paper after cutting it to size.  Next I cut out the decoupage and inked the edges with a black ProMarker.  The decoupage was then layered up using foam pads and tape.  Using some textured holographic mirror board  and the decoupage I drew around the decoupage onto the back of the mirror board.  It was then cut out a few centimeters further than the drawn line to create a mat.   I then did the same with the sentiment.  The topper and sentiment were then attached to the card blank using foam tape.  Finally a Marvel tag was adhered to the bottom left corner of the card.

Just Because

Hello bloggers, today's card is a lovely 'just because' card.  I really love the papers I have used on this one.

This card began as a 5x7 card blank.  First I adhered some striped paper down the left side of the card and then added some floral paper down the other side. The papers were from my stash and i think they were free ones.   Next using some white card stock and Spellbinders Borderabilities 'poinsettia' I die cut the strip that goes across the card.  Once die cut and still in the die I inked through with peeled paint and festive berries distress inks.  This was then adhered to the card blank with foam tape and then cut to size.  Next I stamped out the sentiment using Staz-on ink pad and Polka Doodles 'sentational sentiments' stamp set.   This was die cut using Spellbinders back to basic tags and the edges were inked with a ProMarker.  It was then attached to the floral strip with a red pearl effect brad. The floral strip was then adhered to the bottom of the card blank.  Finally using Spellbinders 'blossom five' die set I die cut three different sized flowers from coloured vellum.  I then went over them with an embossing tool to give them definition and texture from the white lines.  This was then layered up and adhered to the card.

You're Bloomin' Fabulous!

Hello bloggers today I have a tag to showcase instead of a card.

With some funky foam I die cut the leaves using Spellbinders 'foliage' die set.  Next using some flower punches I punched out some flower shapes from scraps of blue and brown papers.  These were shaped with an embossing tool and then layered up.  Cosmic Shimmer 'pearl black' pva was then added to the centre of the flowers.  Using pumice stone distress ink I inked over the tag to take away the brightness of the white card.  The flowers and leaves were then adhered to the tag.  Finally a  punch was used to punch a circle from a scrap of card, this was then stamped with Creative Expressions 'sentimental sayings' stamp set.  Finally the sentiment was attached to the tag and a hole was punched in the top with a hole punch.

origami flower tutorial

Hello bloggers something a little different for you today. Not a card in sight but a bit of origami to wet your appetite.

Origami Flower Instructions

Resources: paper 4” square (photo copy paper will be fine as you don’t want it too thick so it will fold easily).

Important note: rub over each fold line with your fingers to reinforce it as you go through each fold.

With your square piece of paper in front of you, you are ready to begin

First fold your paper in half diagonally, remembering to rub over the fold line with your fingers. Take the left corner and fold it up to the top point of the triangle repeat with the right hand side, remembering to crease the folds with your fingers. It now resembles a diamond shape.

Next take the triangle from left hand side and fold it back on it’s self so that it touches the bottom edge of the diamond.  Now repeat on the other side.  Open up the triangle at the edge by placing your finger between the two pieces of paper.  This will then open the area out and it can then be flattened by falling into the folds that already exist.  Repeat on the other side.

Now fold down the flaps on each side.  Take the left hand triangle and fold it in half into itself, then repeat on the other side.  Now curve the bottom edges round to the center and add a spot of glue to hold into place.  Place a paperclip to hold whilst glue sets.

Now you have the basics to make a single petal you can continue to make more and then attach together to form a flower bud.

This is one flower bud with five petals.

These can be made up and made into room decoration or window displays

Road to no where

Hello bloggers today's card was inspired by the map stamp from IndigoBlu.

Snookered - Happy Birthday Son

Hello bloggers today we have a birthday card for a snooker/pool mad young man.

This card began as a white hammered 6x6 card blank.  I printed off my background paper from Crafter's Companion 'hobbies' CD, this was printed on to some white pearlised linen paper.  I cut the paper to size and adhered it to the card blank.  Next I printed off a sheet of diamond pyrimage and began the task of cutting it out and mounting it up with foam tape.  The topper was then adhered to the card with double sided tape.  The two sentiments were then created.  The 'happy birthday' sentiment was made using bundled sage distress ink and Polka Doodles 'sensational sentiments' stamp set.  I then die cut this out using Spellbinders 'scallop labels one' die set.  Once die cut I inked the edges with the same ink and adhered it with foam tape to the card.  The second sentiment 'son' was made using Clarity Stamps 'letterbox' stamp set and bundled sage distress ink.  This was die cut using Spellbinders 'scallop labels one' dies.  Once removed from the die the edges were inked with the same ink.  The sentiment was adhered to the card with foam tape.
