Nan

Hello, today's card is a lovely Nan card.  I know some people use other words to describe their Nan such as gran, grandma, grandmother, nanna and mama to name but a few, but which ever one you use I think this card's sentiment will make you chuckle.

I began with an A6 card blank in hammered white card stock.  First I cut some gold holographic and patterned card stock and adhered it to the front of the card blank.  Next I cut a piece of white card stock to make a mat to adhere to the gold.  I began by stamping it with a baby stamp from HunkyDory Golden Oldies 'Waltz Surprise' stamp set.  I stamped using distress ink victorian velvet and tumbled glass to give a boy and girl theme.  Then I adhered the mat to the gold card stock.  Mean while I stamped the nan image, cut it out and coloured it with promarkers.  On her beads and glasses I added glossy accents to make them glisten and sparkle.  Using  the nan brick stamp from the set I stamped up a border using black soot distress ink and then coloured the letter with Zig Painty Twin pen using the gold end.  This was then cut out and matted onto some more gold card.  For the final bit of stamping I stamped out the sentiment using black soot ink and then cut it out using Spellbinders Labels 14.  I then cut a piece of gold card using the same die and then cut it in half landscape to make a mat that looks like it fits but it is a cheat if you look closely.  Finally I adhered the sentiment, nan and border to the card base.

Hope you like this one would be a lovely card for a new Nan.

Ruby

Hello, today's card is a fantasy card of a fairy named Ruby.

This card began with a shop brought 8x8 white card blank.  From some textured silver holographic card stock I cut a mat smaller than the card base and adhered it to the card blank.  Next from Fairy Gemstones CD I printed out a backing sheet and a topper sheet.  Using Spellbinders Labels 1 die I die cut the toppers and sentiment.  From silver holographic mirror board I die cut a mat for each topper and sentiment using the labels 1 die.  I adhered the toppers to the silver mats.  Next I cut down the backing paper from the CD to make a mat and adhered it to the silver mat. The toppers were adhered to the card bottom left and top right. Using Spellbinders Asian Accents die I cut two corners out of the silver mirror board. Through the corners I threaded some red bakers twine, this part was a bit tricky so I ended up threading part of it and then adhering the corners down and then finished of threading it whilst they were attached to the card.  In the centre I knotted the twine and wrapped it round all the strands to pull it together in the middle.  Finally I attached the sentiment topper over the knot using foam pads.

I hope you enjoyed this card the photograph really doesn't do it justice as it looks better in real life.

I am entering this card in to the following challenge

Thank you for Lifting My Spirits

Hello, today's card is a lovely Thank You card.  Hope you enjoy it.

I began with a piece of Centura Pearl Snow White card stock and from that made an 4x4 card base.  Next I embossed it with That Special Touch Mica Mask 'Bricks' and then inked it up with antique linen distress ink. From some holographic copper mirror board I cut a mat smaller than the card base and adhered them together.  Using My Craft Studio 'A Walk In Wonderland' cd I printed out a fairy topper, cut it out and adhered it to the copper mat.  Next I stamped the sentiment using black soot distress ink and stamp set 'buttons' from Creative Expression.  With spellbinders Labels 28 die I die cut the sentiment and then cut it down to fit the card as the original die cut was too deep and covered up to much of the card.  I inked the sentiment up with antique linen distress and and then adhered it to the card using foam pads.  finally I added a gem into each corner of the copper mat.

Flowers Are The Music Of Life

Hello bloggers, today's card has a floral theme.

I began with a 6x6 card blank but cut it down to the size I wanted.  Next I used a preprinted card stock with a floral design down the left hand side and adhered it to my card base.  Then using distress ink I stamped  the sentiment which is from Creative Expressions 'Button Floral' stamp set.  Next using pine needles distress ink I stamped the leaves using Creative Expressions 'Funky Floral' stamp set.  I then stamped the larger flower directly onto the card stock using button florals stamp set at the top and bottom right of the card.  I also stamped it twice onto a piece of white card stock that I then cut out and coloured  with promarkers.  I did the same with the smaller flower which is from the same stamp set. Then  I shaped the flowers slightly with my fingers and adhered them to the card base onto of the original stamped images.    The smaller flowers were adered on top of the larger flowers.  To finish off the card I placed cosmic shimmer pearl glue berry red in the centres of the two stamped flowers and also into the centres of some of the flowers that were pre printed on the card stock.

Hopefully I have finally sorted out blogger scheduling and new posts will now be from 6am GMT.

Back to today's card it is a bit of fun and stamped using Creative Expression and Kanban stamps.

I began with an 8x8 card blank and using some white card stock I stamped the orange lace pattern with Kanban lace stamp and spiced marmalade distress ink.  I then cut this out and attached it to the left hand side of the card.  Next using spellbinders Venetian dies I cut 2 borders in green and 1 in orange.  These were then adhered to the card blank.  Using creative expressions frilly things stamp set I stamped up the bra and pants using spiced marmalade distress ink.  This was then die cut out using spellbinders labels fourteen die and the edges were ink with the distress ink using a piece of cut n dry foam.  The sentiment was stamped also from frilly things stamp set and inked in iced spruce distress ink, again this was die cut using labels fourteen and inking the edges.   Finally the sentiment and topper were adhered to the card blank.

Spaceman

Hello bloggers, today's card is a spaceman themed card.

I began with an A6 card blank that I randomly stamped with a spaceship stamp and peeled paint distress ink.  Then I stamped an alien stamp using faded jeans distress ink.  Next I stamped onto a separate piece of white card stock several rockets in a line to make a border. I stamped the rockets in blue and green distress inks and changed the direction of the stamp for the two different colours.  This was then cut out and mounted onto some holographic card stock.  An alien and the sentiment were stamped using faded jeans distress ink.  These were cut to size and again mounted onto holographic card stock.  The border and sentiment were adhered to the card base.  Finally I stamped the spaceman image using faded jeans distress ink.  I used to distress ink to water colour his boots and gloves.  Next using broken china distress ink I water coloured his suit.  The flag and central panel on the suit were water coloured with peeled paint distress ink.  I added glossy accents to his helmet and some parts on his suit to give the effect that they were real.  The spaceman was then added to the card base using foam pads.

Hope you enjoyed this card it would make a lovely card for a space mad boy or man.

Nested Hearts

Hello, today's card is a lovely embossed nested hearts card.

I started with an A6 card blank and embossed it with 'tied together' embossing folder.  Next I stamped the sentiment  using creative expressions 'sentimental saying' stamp set.  This was then die cut using spellbinders Back to Basic Tags 2, then inked through the die with festive berries distress ink.  Once it was taken out of the die I inked the edges with the same ink and a bit of cut n dry foam.  I attached the sentiment to the card base using two jewel brads.  Using some pearlescent red paper I cut out a whole set of spellbinders ' nested hearts'.  Then I embossed them to get the lovely embossed detail you can see in the photo.  The hearts were then attached to the card so that there was one in front of the other at an angle.  Next I die cut the foliage from some green textured paper and inked through the die using peeled paint distress ink.  Using some red card stock I die cut a flower from spellbinders 'spiral blossom 2' die and the rolled it up to form a flower.  This was adhered together and then to the card.  The foliage was added tucked in behind the flower.

Hope you like this one.  Happy Crafting xx Hazel

Scalloped Vase of Poppies

Hello bloggers, posts should be back to normal from today onwards as I made a boo boo with schedule times on blogger and only just realised today.  Hope you like today's scalloped poppy card.

To create this card I began with a piece of A4 yellow card stock and folded it in half die cut it using Spellbinders Grand Scallop dies twice.  Next I adhered the two scallops together to make a pocket vase so only added glue to the bottom half of the vase.  With another sheet of yellow card stock I die cut the stand for my card as it is a non opening card.  The stand was cut using labels 28 die and then scoring the label so that it formed a stand which was adhered to the back of the vase.  Using IndigoBlu 'Poppy Meadow' stamp set I stamped the largest poppy 8 times, some of these were generation stamped but most were not.  This was done to give the poppies different looks.  Next I water coloured the stems and leaves on 3 of the poppies using peeled paint distress ink.  The poppies were all cut out and I inked the edges with a red promarker to disguise the white edges.  The poppies were then arranged in the vase.

Bee Happy

Hello bloggers, today's card is a pick me up type for when life gets you down.

This card began as an A6 aperture gatefold card the aperture is where the bee is.  First I stamped up the background using distress ink in mustard seed using a handmade stamp to make the honeycomb design.  Next I used one of Anita's 'animals' stamp to stamp the bee through the card aperture.  Using Indigoblu  'poppy meadow' stamp set I stamped out the poppy several times in festive berries distress ink and the cut out different pieces to decoupage up the poppy.  The edges of the poppy were inked up with a red promaker to disguise the white edges.   The words were produced on the computer, printed out and cut up.  Finally everything was piece together and adhered to the card using foam pad to complete the card.

Love

Hello today's card is all about love

I began with an A4 sheet of white card stock and scored it in half to make an A5 card blank.  Next using a polka dot mask I embossed the top half of the card.  Once this was done I attached some red ribbon with the word love and hearts all over it to the card.  Next I threaded some pearl effect beaded hearts onto some bakers twine and attached it to the card.  I added a red button to where the ribbon and twine overlapped.  Using a red luggage label I removed the string that came with it and added some bakers twine instead.  With  a  black calligraphy pen I wrote the word 'love' on the label and attached it to the card at an angle.  A bow was made using the love and hearts ribbon and it was adhered to the top right hand corner.  Finally I inked up the edges of the card with festive berries distress ink.

The Road To A Friend's House Is Never Long

Hello bloggers, today's card is made by recycling or upcycling (depends which word you prefer to use) an old map.

Beginning with an A4 white card stock I scored it in half to make it an A5 card blank.  Next I made a mat using some black holographic card stock.  Yesterday I purchased a couple of old map books from a charity shop and searched through the books and found a map I liked and used it as my background paper.  I cut is smaller than the previous mat and then these were both adhered to the card blank.  Next using Polkadoodles stamps  'Be Neighbours' I stamped out two different house images and coloured them with Promarkers then cut them out.  A sentiment was then created on the computer and printed out onto white card stock.  This was die cut using Spellbinders 'ribbon banners'.  Whilst it was still in the die I inked through with antique linen distress ink.  The houses and the sentiment were then attached to the card blank.

Hope you like it, maybe it will inspire you to upcycle or recycle something today.

Best Wishes

Hello bloggers, today's card is a petite 4x4

This card started off with a piece of centura pearl card stock in an ivory colour that was cut to a 4x4 folded card blank. A mat was then made from holographic mirror board smaller than the card base.  A glitter card mat was also made but this was slightly smaller than the holographic mat.  The mats were adhered to the card base.  The topper was printed from 'A Walk in Wonderland' CD and then cut smaller than the previous mat and then adhered to it.  Finally a pre-printed sentiment was matted on to holographic mirror board.  The sentiment was distressed with antique linen distress ink to take the whiteness away from it.  This was then attached to the card base using foam pads.

A quick and simple card that would work with many sentiments.

Rock Star!

Hello bloggers, today's card is for a wannabe rock star's birthday.

Starting with an A6 white hammered card blank I embossed it with Sizzix 'rock star' embossing folder.  This was then inked up with distress ink to emphasis the embossed detail.  Next I cut a strip of blue glitter card the width of the card blank.  Then I cut a mat slightly smaller than the glitter card and adhered them together.    A handmade verse topper was then added to the blue strip as well as some musical peel offs. A Happy Birthday tag was attached using a blue brad.   The layers were then adhered to the card base.  Peels off were added to the card base to highlight some of the instruments and notes that had been embossed.

A great card for a budding rock star.

'Kaleidoscope of Butterflies

Hello today's card is a Kaleidoscope of Butterflies.

I  began with a white A6 card blank.  Next I cut a mat slightly smaller than the card blank from purple pearlescent paper.  This was adhered to the card blank and another mat was made from holographic mirror board, again slightly smaller than the previous one and adhered to the purple pearlescent paper.  Then from a combination of white card stock, purple pearlescent card and purple vellum I die cut the butterflies using spellbinders Les Papillions die set and then layered them up to form different effects.  Jewels  and cosmic shimmer pearlised glue was then added to the centre of the butterflies and they were adhered to the card base.  Next I die cut  from white card and purple vellum two of the same shape from Spellbinders Ironworks Motif dies set.  I then stamped the white shape with the sentiment from Particraft Butterfly 2 Stamp set and the flowers from Polkadoodles Magic Neighbours stamp set using distress ink dusty concorde.  These were then layered up slightly off set and adhered to the card.  Finally a double bow was created from pink and purple ribbon to finish off the card.

Miracle Of The Butterfly

Hello, don't you just love nature and the miracle of how a leaf eating caterpillar transforms into a beautiful butterfly.  I know I do.

Today's card is beautiful butterfly and floral card using IndigoBlu 'Wild Meadow' Stamp Set.

First I began with an A6 card blank in white hammered card stock.  I inked up the floral swirl stamp with black distress ink and stamped this around the corners of the card.  Next I stamped the wording in the centre using the same distress ink.  The butterfly was created by stamping the butterfly stamp with IndigoBlu Flitterglu and then brushing Mega Flakes 'Winter Dawn' across it so that the glue attracted the flakes and it adhered to the card.  This was then brushed over by hand and a  scoochy sponge was used to clear off the excess and reveal all the detail of the stamped image.  Finally I used Flitterglu the edges of the card and did the same effect as I had done on the butterfly.

I am entering this card into the IndigoBlu Forvever 21 Challenge 2 the theme is  Words and Phrases.

First I started with a white 6x6 card blank.  Then I cut a mat out of black card stock slightly smaller than the card base.  This was then adhered to the card base.  Next using white card stock I die cut four shapes from the Spellbinders Damask Motifs die set.  Then from black card stock I cut  three more of the same shape.  These were layered up with the four white on the base and the three black on the top at different angles.  Two motif squares were then cut from black and white card.  These were again layered up over the joints in the centre.  The black one being on the bottom and the white one on the top at a different angle.  Finally two sentiment strips were added to the top of the card.

Fairy Double Tag Pocket Twistapage Card

Hello, today's card is a double tag pocket card with a fairy theme, but you could change the theme just by changing the tag.  Useful for gift cards, money too.

Here the tags are shown out of the card.

Double sided card stock works really well with this type of card.  I started with an A4 sheet of lightweight card stock and embossed it with creative expressions embossing folder 'floral'.  Then I cut the card stock down to 29cm.  Scored the long side in half at 14.5cm.  Turned the card stock to the short side and score it in half at 10.5cm.  This will make 4 panels.  Laying the cardstock in front of you in the landscape position with the pattern you want to see most on your card once its finished face down.  Cut along the centre score line on the long side to the centre only.

Now with the card stock portrait take the left hand corner and fold it down approx 4cm, this does not need to be exact.  Take the bottom right hand corner and fold it up to but not on the scoreline.  You should now have two triangles one top left and one bottom right.  Adhere the flaps to keep them in place.  Next I added adhesive tape to the top left corner after the triangle and  below the triangle on the edges.  Then on the bottom right corner adhesive tape was put above the triangle on the edge and in front of the triangle on the score line.

Time to fold, starting with the left hand panel remove tape covering and fold panel over to the right hand side and adhere together.  Remove the tape covering from the bottom right panel.  Lift the bottom panels up and over so that the bottom right hand panel is stuck to the top panel.  Fold the remaining panel around the back.    Because of the nature of this cards construction there is a little over hang which can be cut off from the bottom edge.  Any over hang on the side can be left as the cards leading edge.

Next the tags were printed from My Craft Studio 'A Walk in Wonderland' cd and so was the twistapage these were then cut out.  The tags were backed with glitter card to make them more substantial.  A punch was used to make holes in the tags and ribbon was threaded through and knotted.  The twistapage was mounted up using foam pads and adhered to the card front and the tags were inserted into the cards slots.

Hope you like this card and it all makes sense.  It makes for something a little more interesting than a plain gift card or money gift.  Although it is a card you can't open you could quite easily adhered some card stock on the back if you want an opening card or you could just write on the back.

Ashton A Little Mischief

Hello, today's card is a birthday card for a very special 5 year old.

This card is made from a shop bought card blank and a die cut decoupage sheet.

First I cut the backing card stock to slightly smaller than the base card.  This was then adhered to the base card.  Next I pushed out all the die cut decoupage and with a nail file filed off all the locking joints that held it in the sheet.  Then I got a black Promarker and inked up all the edges on all the layers.  Using foam pads the decoupage was layered up.  I was very impressed with how much height I got with this as it looked very substantial.  The die cut topper was then adhered to the card.  Next from the left over sheet of die cut I cut out the title which is 'Little Mischief' and used that along with number 5 that I punched out using a circle punch.  The number 5 was used to tell me which piece went in what order on the sheet, so impressed with how good it looked on the finished card.  The top topper and circle punched number 5 were adhered to the top of the card.  Finally using clarity stamps letter box stamps I stamped out the boxes and letters using dusty concorde distress ink.  These were then cut out and the edges inked with the same distress ink as it had been stamped with, they were then adhered to the card.

Hope you like this card and enjoyed the run down of how it was made.  Happy crafting xx Hazel

Just for You

Hello crafter's, today's card is featured below.

This cards started off with a shop brought card blank 5x7 in size I inked the edges with evergreen bough distress ink.  Next I cut a piece of white card stock and embossed it with that special touch mask 'leaves' using my grand calibur to run it through and get the embossed detail.  Using some black and silver patterned mirror board I die cut two borders using spellbinders 'asian accents' dies and also cut a piece using a marianne die for the sentiment backing.  Using spellbinders 'lotus' die I also cut  the topper and then stamped a sentiment using black soot distress ink.  Again using the silver and black card stock I die cut it using spellbinders 'spiral blossom three. This was then rolled up to create a flower and a gem added to the centre.   With some turquoise paper I die cut a leaf set using spellbinders foliage dies.  The card was then assembled as shown above.

Hope you like it, please feel free to leave comments.  Happy crafting xx Hazel

Hello crafter's today I have a tag to share with you.

First I cut a piece of blue centura pearl cardstock and scored it in half to make my tag.  Using a corner rounder I rounded the corners at the bottom.  Next I raided my scrap paper bin in an attempt to try emptying it which is still an ongoing process.  I had a lovely piece of gold and blue paper from crafter's companion which had flowers printed on it, so first I cut a piece of that paper to fit across the tag at an angle.  This was adhered to the card blank and I did the same with some gold and cream paper.  Next I cut a few flowers from the blue and gold paper.  I used an embossing tool in the centre to create some dimension and then layered them up.  The white flowers down the diagonal centre were punched using a Martha Stewart punch.  All the flowers were adhered and then cosmic shimmer pearl glue in gold was placed in the centre of each flower to finish them off.

Hope you like this tag I love the colours.  Happy crafting xx Hazel

Happy Engagement Card

Hello fellow bloggers, today's card is a very quick one as I have been ill for two days and not feeling up to much crafting, think I over did it at the allotment the other day :(

The card blank was shop brought on this card 6x6.  I cut a mat of red card stock smaller than the card base and adhered it to the card base.  Next on a piece of white card stock and using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Barn Door I stamped up the image using Indigoblu  stamp 'Love Is'.  Once the image was stamped I cut the card down to size so that it was just a smidging smaller than the red card mat.  It was then adhered to the red mat.  Finally a shop brought 'Happy Engagement' sentiment strip was adhered along the bottom.

Hope you like this card, I look forward to reading your comments.  Happy Crafting xx Hazel

Fairy Birthday Wishes Faux Pyramage Technique

Hello today's card is a fairy birthday wishes card using the faux pyramage technique.

Using white hammered card as the base card stock I score an A4 sheet to make an A5 card.  Next I cut a mat from glitter card slightly smaller than the card blank.  A length of polka dot ribbon was wrapped around the glitter card at the bottom and adhered behind.  The glitter card was then adhered to the base card.  A smaller length of ribbon was then tied around the ribbon wrapped around the card and the ends were cut at an angle.  Using an image that was printed from My Craft Studio Walk in Wonderland CD a topper was made.  To get the faux pyramage effect it was die cut using Spellbinders Hexagon dies.  These were layered up on the image as they were displayed in the packet. The dies cuts were then matted onto the glitter card using different depths of glue gel to give it the dimension and effect of a pyramage card.  Finally a sentiment from my stash was added.

Hope you like this one!   Happy Crafting xx Hazel

A Baby Is A Blessing

Hello, hope you are all well.  Today's card is a card I made for a friends new baby using spellbinders dies.

First with some hammered card stock I made an A5 card blank by scoring and folding an A4 sheet.  This was then coloured around the edges using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Tattered Rose.  Next I cut some pinky/purple glitter card to form mats for the verse and birth details. These were adhered to the card blank using photoglue.  Using some card stock I had with girly wording on I cut a mat slightly smaller than the glitter card and adhered it the glitter card.  On my computer I typed out the verse and birth details and printed them onto white card stock.  These were then die cut and embossed using Spellbinders labels 21 die for the birth details and Spellbinders Large Labels die  for the verse.  Whilst they were still in the dies I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress Ink.  The birth details were then matted onto the glitter card using foam pads to give it a bit of dimension.  The verse was matted onto the words paper so that some of the girly words could also be seen.

Hope you like it, why not pop back tomorrow to see what card I have made. xx hazel

A Rose for Rose

Hello fellow crafter's  today is a rose and fairy card.  I hope you like it, it reminds me of summer, if you can remember what that is.

Using pink Centura Pearl card stock I made a card blank to 5 5/8" square.   A mat from silver mirror board was cut to 5 3/8 square.  The next mat was 5 1/8 and was cut from pink glitter card.   The topper was printed from My Craft Studio 'Walk In Wonderland' CD.  The topper and mats were all adhered together and mounted on to the card blank.  Lastly the sentiment was stamped using Tattered Rose Distress Ink from Tim Holtz and Creative Expressions 'Button Florals' Stamp set.  This was then die cut using Spellbinders Scalloped Ovals dies.  Whilst still in the die I distressed the edge with Tattered Rose distress ink.  This was then mounted using foam pads to the card front.
